Oh the weather outside is terrifying and the fire in our hearts is delight-making, and Dan and James are so desperate to get their holiday cheer into your ears that they spend this episode using the auditory equivalent of sledgehammers and big poles to cram it in as far as it will go. Dan might be a vampire (spoiler: he is) and James might be a werewolf (spoiler: he is) but they get along like reindeer and magical reindeer food from that Santa movie and they tell you all about the games you should and shouldn’t be playing, like Dan’s final opinion on Uncharted 3 and James’s final opinion on Skyrim. Dan’s been playing a little Zelda, James has been playing a little Ass Creed and all the jingling bells in the world can’t drown out the sounds of their beautiful yet masculine opinions.

The podcast gets off to a rocky start for this episode, but once the boys get going, there’s nothing to stop them! Danman and Foreman fight crimes against good video games with their danarangs and jamesplanes and four fists of ripe, delicious justice. Not even a brief diversion into more PastaChat can derail the Game Train, which starts with a stop in Dark Souls and stops with a stop in a special game idea for Premium Listeners that involves pasta, meatballs and origami. Pasta comes in many shapes and sizes, but why hasn’t anybody ever made a game about pasta? Well, if Dan and James had their way, EVERY game would have some kind of pasta element in it. Super Mario Ravioli! Donkey Bowtie Pasta Kong! But life isn’t all about extruded flour products, it’s also about genocide. Dan tells the tragic story of the Trash Heeps who can no longer speak for themselves, and tells us all about how flabbergastingly hard it is for Nintendo to give its early adopters free games. James played Deus Ex: Human Spaghetti Revolution and wasn’t impressed. The boys also talk about player choice in games and how girls don’t always get treated very well by their fellow gamers. Also, Dan went to PAX (Pasta Appreciation eXpo) and played games like Monaco and Call of Duty and one of them he loved and one of them he didn’t care for. Premium Listeners also get to hear about Fickle Fetus, which has lots of sauce.

Great trailer that has nothing to do with the actual game, which has no androids and no philosophical ruminations.

This reminds me of the amazing, heartbreaking trailer for Dead Island, which similarly has almost nothing to do with the actual game it’s meant to advertise.

If you could do one thing with a piping hot pizza, what would it be? Your answer is obvious: you’d dig up a corpse and feed the pizza to it! Do this and you will complete an arcane ritual that will guarantee your entrance to Pizza Heaven! Pizza Pope Dan dooms James to Pizza Heck (where he’ll be with all the Pugs, who all go to Hell), but they talk about games, too, like Dan’s looooove for VVVVVV and James’s hate for FEAR 3. Dan talks about the crazy DOTA2 tournament, too, and triumphantly leads the discussion on digital distribution.
